Ceilings
Why ceilings start low and how an account pool earns higher onesCeilings
New partners often ask why their first ceiling is lower than the catalogue figure. The short answer: the desk is yet to see your statements under load. The long answer is below.
How the opening ceiling is set
Three inputs. The bank's own behaviour with similar accounts, the age and cleanliness of your statements, and the hours you cover. A six month old account with quiet statements and full shift coverage opens near the catalogue number; a young account with gaps opens at half.
What raises it
- A clean rate above ninety eight percent for seven consecutive shift days.
- Confirmations within minutes of the payment landing.
- No bank queries on the account during the period.
Reviews happen on fixed days, so an increase never arrives mid-week. Most pools double their opening ceilings within the first month.
What resets it
- A bank query that reached the desk later than sixty minutes after you noticed it.
- A payout sent outside a desk instruction.
- Shuffling funds across your own accounts mid-shift, which breaks the match.
Pools versus single accounts
A pool is reviewed as a whole. One weak account does not block the others, but it does hold back the pool's next increase until it is either cleaned up or taken offline. Agencies usually rotate a weak account out for two weeks rather than keep it in the pool.
Ceilings are not a judgement of you. They are the desk's running estimate of how much flow your bank will accept quietly.
Opening ceiling
